Northamptonshire Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner Stephen Mold has launched a consultation on his third Police, Fire and Crime Plan and is asking people to share their views on the priorities he is suggesting for policing and the fire service in Northamptonshire.
The Commissioner is responsible for setting the priorities for both Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service and for the first time, he has brought these priorities together into one overarching plan aimed at making Northamptonshire a safer place.
Stephen Mold said: “It is clearer to me than ever before that the problems that affect Northamptonshire will never be solved by any one organisation.
“I want Northamptonshire Police and Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service to collaborate wherever it makes sense to do so, out in our communities, to make this county as safe as it can be.
“For the first time, this is a plan for police and fire, reflecting my responsibility to set the strategic direction for both services in Northamptonshire. It is not an exhaustive list of all the activity that will happen, but it is intended to set the key priorities for both organisations.”
The priorities proposed are:
A number of objectives are set out under each of these priorities for the Chief Constable and Chief Fire Officer to deliver jointly and with partners.
People who live, work in or travel to Northamptonshire are encouraged to share their views on these priorities and can do so by completing a short survey.
Stephen said: “We have achieved a great deal since setting out the last Police and Crime Plan. I am proud that I have been able to invest in policing, with more officers to deliver neighbourhood policing. I am proud that I have been able to bring stability and development to improve the service that our firefighters provide.
“I am grateful to everyone in both organisations for the work they do, I value the commitment they make. But I set them the same challenge that I set myself – to build on the work we have done so far and be more visible in our communities, to build trust and confidence and make Northamptonshire safer.”
The survey and full version of the draft Police, Fire and Crime Plan can be found here.
This short survey will take less than 10 minutes to complete and will close at 11.59pm on Sunday 7th of November 2021.
