Making Northamptonshire Safer Fund 2019-20

The Office of the Police, Fire and Crime Commissioner has designed, developed and implemented a micro-funding process for community initiatives to enable them to develop creative approaches to crime prevention and community safety.

Our Lives Matter

 

SSD Youth Club:  To open the St James, Spencer and Dallington youth club for one additional night per week, during this night they will run a project enabling young people from deprived communities to explore the myths, facts, consequences and impact of knife and violent crime, gang affiliation, sexual exploitation and county lines.

 

£10,000

 

16+ fund

 

Right Resolution:  An informative and active programme helping raise knowledge, awareness and aspirations on youth related issues for young people leaving care.  This project will be a 4 x 8 week programme of workshops for care leavers looking at issues such as independent living, mental health, crime, positive relationships and healthy living. (Countywide)

Kicks Project

 

NTFC Community Trust:  NTFC Kicks uses the power of football and sport to inspire young people in some of the most high need areas across Northamptonshire engaging them in a range of constructive activities.  This project will be offering football sessions as a diversionary activity across Kingsway, Hemmingwell and Queensway areas of Wellingborough.

Extend to 5 Day Opening

 

Daylight Centre:  To allow for them to open on Fridays to support homeless and vulnerable people better.  Clients reporting its very hard to have a 3 day weekend without access to the support and services (food bank, sleeping bags, shower etc.) and current resource only allows them to open until Thursdays.

Wellingborough Safe

 

Northamptonshire Carers:  To provide individualised support to an at-risk group of frail, elderly residents in Wellingborough.  The project will identify those most vulnerable, raising awareness of crime and fraud.

Silent Tears

 

Groundwork:  providing group work to children in families where domestic abuse is identified/disclosed to explore issues associated with domestic abuse and the impact these have on their well-being.

Changing Lanes

 

Family Support Link:  To improve the physical and mental wellbeing of families affected by another person’s substance misuse to stop intergenerational substance misuse and to make the families affected feel safer in their own community and to avoid being pulled into criminality.  It will be delivered through 1:1 and group work sessions.

Safer Nights Project

 

Northamptonshire Pub Watch:  The project will develop and deliver a  range of partnership focused activities/resources  aiming to:

Reduce the risk of alcohol related harm to vulnerable individuals, and     reduce levels of alcohol related violence and Anti-Social Behaviour (ASB) experienced by the Night Time Economy (NTE) in the Corby Old Village area of the borough.

Provide licensed premises staff with resources to identify and effectively tackle incidents of alcohol/drug related ASB and criminal activity within their premises.

Reduce the impact of alcohol related ASB/violence within the wider Corby Old Village community.

Community Watch – Days of Action

 

Support Northamptonshire:  Deliver 6 Days of Action in priority wards of Hemmingwell, Queensway, Croyland, Swanspool, Victoria and Castlefieds/Ise wards.  This is to enable local people to lead social action to prevent crime and fear, raise awareness of support available and build community cohesion.  The project will create 6 short films of each day to show community achievements and sustain action in these areas.
